CBDT releases pointers for expedited dealing with of Revenue Tax Appeals

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has launched Pointers for expedited dealing with of Revenue Tax Appeals by Commissioners of Revenue Tax (Appeals/Evaluation Unit) or Extra/Joint CIT(A).

The Pointers Learn as follows:

In supersession of the above-referred letter dated 29.12.2021 and to set a framework for precedence/out of flip disposal of pending appeals on the degree of CsIT(A/AU) and Addl./Jt.CIT(Appeals), it’s determined that requests for such disposal of appeals, masking real and distinctive circumstances, raised on the occasion of the appellant or referred to by the Assessing Officer/Vary Head, could also be thought of by the Pr.CCsIT/CCsIT/DGsIT on the premise of suggestions of jurisdictional Pr.CIT/Pr.CIT(Central)/CIT(IT), within the following conditions –

i. Circumstances having demand above Rs.1 Cr, or
ii. Circumstances the place a VIP/PMO reference is obtained for expeditious disposal, or
iii. Circumstances the place instructions to this impact have been issued by the Courts, or
iv. Circumstances the place a request is made by senior residents and/or tremendous senior residents, or
v. Another case of real hardship.

In respect of appeals inside the jurisdiction of faceless CsIT(AU), such requests shall be referred to Pr.CCIT(NFAC) for onward communication to respective CsIT(AU). This points with the approval of the CBDT Chairman.
